New Years Day I got the chance to hang out with Allen Schaeffer of Furnace Creek Forge and Brett Bennett of Bennett Knives and do a little forging. I hope everyone else has had a good New Years so far and I just want to say that I’ve got some pretty exciting stuff on the list for 2016. I picked up a new 2×72 grinder, there’s a Bull style hammer build in the plans, I’ve got another smith coming into the shop, axe making classes are coming, working on new forging hammers, tong designs, leather work and of course more hand forged knives – and this is just the tip of the iceberg! I feel that this is really going to be a break out year for Underhill Forge, I’m getting some great shows lined up, new product and as always a drive and determination to make the very best! Thanks for joining the journey with me in 2015, it’s full steam ahead for this coming year and beyond! Here’s some shots of our work from the Not-Hungover Hammer-in!
Starting tonight at midnight (11-25) and running until the end of the day Black Friday (11-27), every item site wide ships for free! Plus, all san mai blades have a price that’s as low as I can go and 2 day knife making class gift certificates are 10% off! Have a bountiful Thanksgiving, looking forward to a great Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
Here’s a few pictures of the San Mai upswept I’ve been working on, took a few custom orders this past week so personal stuff I want to do has to take a back seat to the stuff I have to do. lol Tomorrow though, I’ll finalize the handle and get to etch the blade. Update 11/24/15, the finished blade is up and ready for sale.
Here’s some pictures from the latest bladesmithing class at Underhill Forge. This class was a little different than the normal classes, both students had previous knife making experience, Mike’s a former student and Larry is a stock removal knife maker, so we did an advanced project. Here’s some pictures of from the class!
I only do this class a handful of times each year and it’s always a lot of fun. Had some great guys join me this past Sunday, Aaron H., John C. and Eli C. Class went great, the guys were awesome students! It’s been since July since I’ve taught, so I’m sure between that and my daughter deciding daddy doesn’t need that much sleep, I’m sure the guys were taking it easy on me. Thanks again to everyone for coming out, here’s some pictures from the class!
